ARTISAN GRADE A: ELECTRICAL MECHANICAL: WORKSHOP

REFERENCE NUMBER: 2025/07

SALARY: R455,235 yearly

LOCATION: Gauteng Regional Office

REQUIREMENTS NEEDED:

Trade Test Certificate in Electrical/Mechanical.
-Previous qualifications and experience required as Artisan.

-Valid driver’s license.
-Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and relevant Regulations.

-Must have knowledge of technical/engineering settings and drawings.
-Must be able to operate a computer.

DUTIES:

-The qualified candidate should be able to compile material quantities per project.
-They will be expected to maintain all government infrastructure, including new work on buildings.

-They should be willing to work overtime if requested and to construct progress reports for projects.
-They will also supervise, train, and mentor Artisans, Assistants, and trainees from time to time or frequently.

-Maintain good housekeeping in the workshop and manage equipment, tools, and machinery used per the OHS Act 85 of 1993.

-The job will involve frequent travel. It is expected that the candidate will climb ladders during inspections and maintenance on government buildings/structures as required by the job.

-The candidate should have knowledge of all workshop materials, tools, equipment, and information regarding relevant trades.

ARTISAN PAINTER: WORKSHOP GRADE A REFERENCE NUMBER: 2025/06

SALARY: R220,988 yearly (OSD Salary package)

LOCATION: Gauteng Regional Office

REQUIREMENTS NEEDED:
-Applicable Test Certificate in Painting.
-A valid driver’s license .

-Relevant knowledge and information on the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and
evaluations .

-It is a requirement for an official to possess general information concerning
their respective trades or departments and also must have general information on working tools,
equipment, and workshop machinery.

DUTIES:
-The qualified applicant or candidate should be able to compile data quantities per project, they are expected to maintain all government buildings and also new work for buildings.

-They should be willing to work overtime if needed and compile progress reports on projects and supervise artisan assistants and trainees.

-The qualified candidate will report directly to the Artisan Superintendent. They should have broad knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 75 of 1993.


-It will be required of the applicant to participate in different expeditions , including other islands (Gough and Antarctica) & Robben Island.
-The qualified applicant should be prepared to climb ladders for check-ups and inspections , work in confined layouts and handle dust, heights, and heat.
