In South Africa, many people make a living and help their communities through informal work. Millions rely on small businesses like local shops and food stands in townships every day. However, these businesses often don’t get the advantages of using technology and being part of the official economy.
The Digital Innovation for Modernising the Informal Economy (DIME) Program aims to fix this. It’s looking for enthusiastic and skilled people to join its 6-month Data
Capturing Learnership Programme.
This program allows young individuals to make a real difference in their neighborhoods and develop important job-related abilities. Those taking part will work as data entry helpers, which is very important for giving business owners in townships the information, resources, and computer skills they need to succeed.
Why the DIME Learnership Matters
The DIME Programme bridges the gap between the informal and formal economy by equipping small businesses with digital skills, compliance knowledge, and sustainable practices. For interns, this is not just another short-term role it’s a platform to make an impact.
