Full Job Description

The Food and Innovations Student assists the Food and Innovations Manager in developing new and innovative product ideas.

This includes incorporating fresh or existing ingredients and packaging to create products that meet customer demands and are feasible to produce.

The most preferred product:

  • Follows Nando’s stage-gate process, guiding the product from initial concept to successful launch
  • Ensures compliance with South African food safety regulations
  • Collaborates with suppliers to develop and approve detailed specifications for ingredients, packaging, equipment, and accessories
  • Compiles and regularly updates an allergen booklet, providing nutritional and allergen information for all menu items
  • Involves cross-functional teamwork and coordination
  • Works with Operations to assess the feasibility of product execution and identify any additional requirements
  • Collaborates with the Supply Chain team to source the necessary ingredients and packaging within budget constraints
  • Focuses on enhancing existing products or introducing changes to them
  • Partners with the Learning and Development team to create effective product training approaches
  • Undertakes trial preparations, validations, and ongoing monitoring
  • Supports the Brand experience by providing photography for point-of-sale materials
  • Verifies that standard operating procedures align with the developed recipe and methodology
  • Closely monitors the trial rollout to ensure that the defined product protocols are being consistently applied
  • Confirms that the full product packing process is in place and ready for the product launch.

The student must have the following qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Degree in Food Science, Technology Diploma, or Food & Beverage Operations
  • Fulfilling any legal requirements, such as a Driver’s License.
